Late summer Frankie started hanging out with some of the neighborhood outdoor cats, sharing handouts from a House of Mews volunteer. As temperatures dropped, it became obvious that the others had homes, but Frankie did not. One frigid morning he was huddled in a little shelter on the volunteer’s back porch so was scooped up and carried in to warmth.
Frankie, named after Sinatra for his blue eyes and singing talents, had been shy at first, gradually trusting his new friend. Now inside, his gratitude burst out as he flopped on his side and began purring. Frankie turned out to be an excellent patient as well, holding still for his vet check up and shots.
Quite a lap-full at 12.8 lbs, Frankie who is estimated to be 4 years old loves to stay close to a human. Although content to sit by a window, he’d be happier to join a family. He shared a food bowl with other cats, but unknown if friendly to dogs or kids.
1/10/18: Frankie Update: Frankie has adapted to indoor living very well. He’s a neat litter box user and never goes near a door or window. His tender song of woe has transformed to a full bodied expression of greeting (and demand for breakfast) more suited to a beautiful cat of his stature. When he realized the transfer of food from can to dish happened on the counter, he temporarily lost his composure and jumped up. One “no” was all it took for him to behave like a gentleman again. But he does enjoy a belly rub!
